In light of the role of their consumption growth in global sustainability, this paper analyzes the decisive factors leading to a virtuous cycle between consumption propensity and investment in growing economies. An empirical analysis was conducted to identify the contributing factors to such a cycle in 40 countries. They could be divided into three economic groups by the marginal propensity to consume. The results suggest that growing economies suffer from an autarky cycle between consumption and GDP due to insufficient investment elasticity against consumption elasticity while advancing and advanced economies allow GDP growth to induce investment efficiently. A possible trigger for inducement of investment by growth in growing economies can be ‘frugality’.Item A Principal-Agent Explanation for Technology Transfer(Chitkara University Publications, 2015-10) Beryl Zi-Lin Kuo; Chien-Hsin LinTechnology licensing and transfer is subject to problems of asymmetric information including moral hazard. This study explores the effects of informal governance, knowledge tacitness, and organizational receptivity on the preference of variable royalty scheme in the context of technology licensing. Drawing on the classic principalagent model, we assume that the variable royalty scheme is a process-based contract where the licensee is the principal and the licensor is the agent. The results show that informal governance facilitating goal alignment is positively associated with the variable royalty scheme (i.e. the process-based contract). Organizational receptivity promotes the legitimacy to imposing routines, evaluating the technology, and forming expectation, and is positively associated with the variable royalty scheme. Knowledge tacitness is negatively associated with the variable royalty payment, which implies less transfer programmability moves payment from variable royalties to a fixed fee. Our arguments are significantly different from classic principal-agent relationship that does not involve the dimension of licensee transfer and monitoring capacityItem A Scoping Review ofthe Benefits of Integrated Care at Service User Level in UK Health and Social Care System.(Chitkara University Publications, 2021-10-15) Biju MathewBackground: The clinical commissioners were constituted to ensure patient centeredness and to tackle health inequalities for the local population. Digital platforms have expanded the scope of sharing beyond close social circles, creating an ecosystem where trust and sustainability play a crucial role. While prior research has explored the economic and technological drivers of the SE, there is a growing need to understand the psychological mechanisms influencing consumer participation. Self-Determination Theory (SDT) and the Mindset Theory of Action Phases (MAP) offer insights into the motivational and cognitive factors driving individuals toward shared consumption. Purpose: This study examines the interplay between trust, sustainability, and consumer attitudes toward the sharing economy, exploring how intrinsic and extrinsic motivations shape participation. Specifically, it investigates how psychological needs and mindset shifts influence engagement in SE platforms and whether sustainability concerns act as a moderating factor. Methods: A quantitative research design used structural equation modeling (SEM) to analyze survey data from respondents. The study develops and tests a conceptual framework linking trust, sustainability, and consumer motivation, incorporating latent constructs derived from SDT and MAP. Results: Preliminary findings indicate that trust significantly mediates consumer willingness to participate in SE platforms. Sustainability considerations also enhance participation, particularly among consumers with strong intrinsic motivation. The results further suggest that individuals with a deliberative mindset are more likely to engage in SE when sustainability benefits are evident, while those with an implemental mindset focus more on trust and economic incentives. Conclusion: This study contributes to the growing discourse on consumer psychology in the sharing economy by integrating motivation theories with sustainability and trust factors. The findings have practical implications for platform designers and policymakers seeking to foster greater participation in SE models.Item Achieving Market Leadership: The Next Challenge for Technology Firms from Growing Countries(Chitkara University Publications, 2010-10) Eric ViardotTechnology industries tend to follow a “winner-takes-all” model where the whole market belongs to an oligopoly of firms. Those companies are achieving an overriding position with a product or service whose dominant design is adopted by an overwhelming number of customers and makes it a de facto market standard. We have identified seven different moves used by the firms from the developed world to push their technology-intensive solutions to the market so that they become indisputable leaders. They offer a compatible or open technology to generate increasing returns; besides they create a supportive network; they also actively promote their technology through an aggressive branding; they go after the global market in order to reach the maximum volume of users; they minimize their production costs in order to lower their price and get to new customers; finally they constantly invest more than their competitors in order to reach a critical mass which make their solution unavoidable. Technology industries have long been dominated by companies from the developed world. However in the recent years, new players are coming from growing economies, especially from China for high tech products and India for technology services. In this paper, we will explore how those technology companies from growing countries -mostly China and India- can also apply those different actions in order to reach market leadershipItem Adoption of Cloud Computing in India(Chitkara University Publications, 2011-10) Anudeep RawalThe researcher looks at adoption and applicability of cloud computing to e-governance in India. Aseri; R. IsaacA challenge in implementation of Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) tools is the selection of the right vendor and the solution. Implementing PLM entails huge financial investment on the part of the user and hence precise knowledge as to where each tool can be applied is a must. In this paper, seven PLM tool vendors are compared on their definitions of PLM and also their product offerings in different Product Life Cycle (PLC) phases, including the extreme ends of PLC viz. R&D and end-of-life phase, which are usually ignored. An integrated PLC model is developed and the tools are then mapped onto different phases of PLC. Vendors are compared based on number of tools offered in different PLC phases. The results reveal an uneven distribution in the applicability of various tools, with majority of them focusing on the product development phase and an astonishingly low number on the R&D and end-of-life phases.Item An Empirical Analysis of the Growth Patterns of the Automobile Industry in India(Chitkara University Publications, 2023-04-10) Navleen KaurBackground: Since the introduction of the LPG economy in 1991, the automobile industry in India has progressed rapidly, and a large number of global auto manufacturers have established manufacturing facilities in India; however, the Indian industry lags behind that of many other countries.
