Item Analgesic Activity of some 1-Phenyl-3-aryl-5- (4-(butanoloxy) phenyl) 1H-pyrazoles(Chitkara University Publications, 2016-11-02) Anju Goyal; Sandeep JainA series of analgesic activity of synthesised 1 -Phenyl-3-aryl- 5-(4-(butanoloxy) phenyl) 1H-pyrazoles were synthesized from chalcones and screened for their in vitro analgesic activity. Chalcones i.e.,1-aryl-3- (4-hydroxyphenyl) prop-2-en-1-ones, 1 on reaction with phenyl hydrazine in presence of acetic acid and few drops of hydrochloric acid furnished the corresponding 1-phenyl-3-aryl-5-(4-hydroxyphenyl)-1H-pyrazoles 2 which on further reaction with 4-chloroalkanol yielded the title compounds 3. These compounds were characterized by CHN analyses, IR, mass and 1H NMR spectral data. All the novel synthesised 1-Phenyl-3-aryl-5-(4-(butanoloxy) phenyl) 1H-pyrazoles were evaluated pharmacologically for their analgesic activity and the title synthesised compounds exhibited significant results as compared to standard drug.Item Mannich Bases of 2-Substituted Benzimidazoles – A Review(Chitkara University Publications, 2015-11-17) Ritchu Sethi; Sandeep Arora; Neelam Jain; Sandeep JainMannich bases are the end products of mannich reaction and are known as beta amino ketone carrying compounds. Mannich reaction is a carbon carbon bond forming nucleophilic addition reaction which helps in synthesizing N-methyl derivatives and many other drug molecules. Mannich base derivatives of benzimidazoles possess many pharmacological properties such as anti-oxidant, anti-inflammatory, anticancer, antiviral, anthelmintic and play an important role in medical field. As these drugs are clinically useful in treatment of microbial infections and exhibit other therapeutic activities also, so this encouraged the development of more potent, novel and clinically significant compounds. In this review synthesis and various biological activities of new mannich bases of benzimidazole derivatives reported is discussed.Item Synthesis,Characterization and Biological studies on Mannich Bases of 2-Substituted Benzimidazole Derivatives(Chitkara University Publications, 2015-05-20) Ritchu Sethi; Sandeep Arora; Sandeep Jain; Neelam JainIn the present study novel derivatives of 2-substituted benzimidazoles were prepared via Mannich reaction and evaluated for their in vitro antimicrobial activity against two gram negative strains (Escherichia coli and Pseudomonas aeruginosa), two gram positive strains (Bacillus subtilis and Staphylococcus aureus) and fungal strains (Candida albicans and Aspergillus niger). The synthesized compounds were also screened for antioxidant activity. The newly synthesized compounds were characterized by spectral and analytical techniques. The results revealed that all the synthesized compounds have a significant antioxidant and biological activity against the tested microorganisms.
